Optimal operation of evaporative cooling pads: A review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Direct evaporative cooling is widely known for being an energy efficient air conditioning solution arid and/or semi-arid climates. Commercialized pads vary in material and construction characteristics, while existing research proposes several alternative wetted media configurations. The most studied factors on the operation are velocity or mass flow rate, psychrometric conditions; pad thickness, its geometric characteristics configuration, water rate supplied. performance commonly characterized through saturation effectiveness, pressure drop, temperature drop humidity increase achieved treated air, evaporation consumption, capacity, coefficient of heat transfer coefficients. Present work conducts a critical review experimental theoretical commercial media, identifies gaps literature, uniform nomenclature methodologies, provides view optimal operating conditions from wetted-surface coolers.

Energy Efficiency in Greenhouse Evaporative Cooling Techniques: Cooling Boxes versus Cellulose Pads
Evaporative cooling systems using a combination of evaporative pads and extractor fans require greenhouses to be hermetic. The greatest concentration of greenhouses in the world is located in southeast Spain, but these tend not to be hermetic structures and consequently can only rely on fogging systems as evaporative cooling techniques. Evaporative cooling boxes provide an alternative to such s...
متن کاملOptimal operation of simple cooling cycles
In this paper we consider the selection of controlled variables for two vapour compression cycles. One is a conventional sub-critical ammonia cooling cycle and the other is a trans-critical CO2 cooling cycle. The two cycles have quite different operational properties. For the ammonia cycle we find that several simple control structures gives acceptable performance in terms of achieving in pract...

متن کاملEvaporative cooling in a radio-frequency trap
A theoretical investigation for implementing a scheme of forced evaporative cooling in radio-frequency rf adiabatic potentials is presented. Supposing the atoms to be trapped in a combination of a dc magnetic field and a rf field at frequency 1, the cooling procedure is facilitated using a second rf source at frequency 2. This second rf field produces a controlled coupling between the spin stat...
متن کاملSimulation of Radiant Cooling Performance with Evaporative Cooling Sources
This project addresses three closely related and similarly complex questions: First, using currently available simulation software, what methods might be appropriate for comparing slabintegrated radiant cooling to more conventional alternatives, such that the results are sufficiently fair and comprehensive to support system selection and design? Second, what is the relative performance of repre...
